Amplify Fellowship

Kickback Series: Kenyatta Rashon

The Project:

The Amplify Fellowship is a program created by Washtenaw County arts organizations to support and develop underserved artists within the local community. The Kickback Series provided an opportunity for ‘fellows’ to perform live for a virtual audience and help promote the art cultivated within the program.

The Solution:

The show featured multiple segments including a performance by Kenyatta and her band, Rod Wallace as the MC, and interviews with two community partners. The production was set up on the campus of Leon Speakers in Ann Arbor, which provided proper social distancing for each of the parties - the MC and each guest were isolated in separate rooms.

Communication

Halpin Reinforcement provided audio services which included IEMs for the on-site guest and MC, and wedges for the band, to hear the program audio and each other. Each location featured a custom multiview monitor with the local, remote, and program video for a more personal experience.

Video & Light

Cameras and lighting were provided by Sly Pup Productions. Each local space had a custom lighting design to provide a consistent look from all angles.

Audio Transport

Kenyatta and her band were mixed by Leon Loft engineer Neiko Thomas-Cook and were integrated into the production as a stereo feed. Each local guest was provided with a wireless headset microphone and mixed live with the audio from a remote guest and the band. A separate mix-minus was created for each guest so they could only hear the other guests and the band.
